Smiley face!

Yann has been smiling a lot lately. I find it really hard to capture a smile on the camera sometimes. By the time I grab my camera, baby doesn't want to smile any more, lol. Here are some of the smiles I was able to take with my camera. A couple of them are from grandma B!

My favorite one so far :). Smiling back at daddy!

 This one makes me smile.
We both couldn't go back to bed,
so we had a little play time. I love those moments.

6 weeks and 3 days!

Baby is 6 weeks and 3 days old. He had his 6 weeks visit on Wednesday. He now weighs 11.68Lbs (4Lbs more than when he was born). We are not sure how tall he is because both the measuring devices that they had at the doctor's office were broken. Well, one was broken and the other (the electronic one) kept giving false reading. First It read that baby's height was 7 inches which of course is impossible. Then it read that he was 12 inches. Anyway, so we are not sure how tall baby really is, lol.

During the day, baby stays awake a lot. He can go hours without sleeping. I talked to him a lot, sing or try to make him laugh, lol, or just put him in his swing while I clean house or make supper. He doesn't wear newborn clothes any more. He wears a lot of 3 months clothes BUT that doesn't mean anything. Depending on the name brand, some clothes are either bigger or smaller than others.

We LOVE him like crazy!!! He just fills our lives with joy and happiness(, and craziness:)). Our life has changed so much since he was born. Someone told us once that his birth would put a strain on our marriage. We totally disagree with. If anything, our marriage is stronger than ever. We have what we have always wanted, and we couldn't be happier. Marc and I are addicted to snuggles. We try not to over snuggle but is there really such thing than over snuggling a baby, lol? I love my son.

He always does something cute
with his hands when he sleeps :)

My Baby Shower Book!

Kari came by today and gave me a beautiful gift. A baby shower book! It has a beautiful cover, with a nice introductory message about our miracle baby, and all of the GREAT photos that Jen took during my baby shower. Marc and I are REALLY happy about the book. The photos are awesome, and the colors in the book are just amazing. Kari is such a wonderful friend. She not only planned an AWESOME, and fun baby shower but took the time to make me a book, so I can remember my baby shower. I am so grateful for all she has done for me, and for the wonderful friend she is to me.

Baby Shower (2)

Yesterday, baby and I went to our second baby shower. Ever since the girls at work found out that I was pregnant, they decided to hold a "kind of" private baby shower for me with just the Winners team. The baby shower took place in the lounge room at work, and it started at 5pm. The reason they decided to do it at 5 is so that the "original" girls that started working there with me before the store opened to the public will be all done their shifts. Not many of us, "originals" are left, so it was nice to be together once again. There are so many young girls that work there now since I took my leave.

At 5pm, we were all finally reunited. I had so much fun with all my friends. I have missed working there with the girls, but just didn't realise that I have missed them that much. We laughed a lot, cracking jokes, and teasing each other like we usually do (YES, I teased, and cracked jokes too. Something I don't do a lot with my friends from church, don't ask me why because I really don't know why). I felt so at home. I was happy to be back there.

Of course, baby was the star of the show. As soon as we arrived, Roni (our assistant manager) got him out of his car seat. At first, he was sleeping, then woke up and stayed wide awake for them. We ate, laughed, teased, joked. It was a lot of FUN. The girls took turn holding baby. The food was delicious. Anita did such a good job decorating, and she had a game planned for us. It was quite a fun game. There was a bowl filled with rice, and really tiny safety pins. The person who gets out the most safety pins wins a prize. We all thought it was going to be easy BUT it wasn't. We weren't allowed to look in the bowl (of course). It was hard to differentiate between the rice and the pins. I won the game by pulling out 6 pins. The prize was a gift card for Tim Horton's ($15).

I then opened the gifts they had for us. Baby got more clothes, stuffed animals, diaper and wipes, and a Fisher Price cradle and swing, and so on. Once I was done with the gifts, we ate again, and continued to have fun. When Marc was done work at 6:30pm, he joined us and we stayed there until 8pm. We laughed some more because Marc was teasing Bridget (our merchandising manager). Then we all left. Carla and Anita helped us take the gifts to the car. I had a lot of FUN, and cannot wait to go back to work. If it wasn't for such a great team to work with, I don't think I would go back to work. The girls make it so much fun, including the managers. What a great team to work with.

BOTH MY BABY SHOWERS WERE WONDERFUL.
I am so glad to be surrounded by great people.

April 13th, 2012

The Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board has selected Marc as the 2011 Top Apprentice in the Parts Technician trade (for all of Alberta). After 3 years of schooling, Marc not only got his journeyman ticket but he also succeeded at getting his red seal. And to top it off, he was selected as the top apprentice in his trade because he had the highest marks.

So, on Friday, April 13th, 2012, Marc will receive an award for his achievement in Edmonton (which I was invited to go). I am extremely proud of him, and the hard work he has put in studying day and night in order to "graduate". I am proud that his hard work has been recognised and that he has been selected as top apprentice.

Baby Shower (1)

Last Saturday, Yann and I had our first baby shower.. I had a lot of fun. I am so grateful for everyone that was involved in making it happened especially Kary. She has done such a good job organising everything. The games were fun and the food was delicious. I LOVE the diaper cake that Tiffany made for us. I still have it on display in my house, and don't really want to take it apart. Because they are size 3 diaper, I can keep it the way it is for a little bit longer. We got a lot of presents which I was really grateful for. We were given clothes, beautiful blankets, books (I love books), toys, and so on.
Jen was our photographer that day. Her pictures are GREAT!!! She did such an AWESOME job.

4 weeks old!

Our baby is 4 weeks old today. It's amazing how time just flew by. We look at him all day (literally all day, lol), and can't believe how much he has changed already. We can never have enough of him. We find him so darn cute that our hearts literally melt away even when he is screaming as if we pinched him or something, lol.

Baby doesn't like to be bathed, and is getting better at having his diaper changed. Changing his diaper can be quite a race. Yes, a race! Race against him sprinkling us, or the walls (even the floor sometimes) with his "built in sprinkler". It can be quite funny at times :). Yann still wakes up every 2 hours to be fed. He eats quite a lot. When he feels like it, he lets me sleep for 3 to 4 hours BUT that doesn't happen a lot. The only positive thing about waking up every 2 hours is the fact that I get to see a lot of the cute things he does with his little mouth when he sleeps, or see him do the cutest things with his hands.

I like the fact that he stays awake a lot during the day, so I can entertain him with my NOT so good singing voice, lol. I sing him songs from my childhood which is fun to do. Sometimes, I even change the words, lol.

The first week of motherhood was probably the hardest one for me. I enjoy being my baby's mom. He brings me so much joy even when I look like a zombie and feel like I am half asleep, lol.

Yann is a tough baby, well, we think so. A couple weeks ago, he underwent a minor surgery. The doctor said that he would be fussing a lot but that didn't happen. He seems to tolerate pain really well (he gets it from me, hihi).

We love our son. Every day, we try to fight the urge to snuggle with him all day long without ever wanting to put him down, lol. So far, so good!!! Life is so AWESOME!!!

One more sunday!

So, Marc will be working one more Sunday then after that, he is returning on a normal shift, Monday to Friday (8am to 5pm). We are really excited about it. For two years, he was working a 4 on 4 off shift which took him away from church one month at a time. We want our family to be able to go to church together. It's important that we do that for ourselves but also for our son. We want him to know how important church is. We are probably both going to miss his days off but I'd rather have him coming to church with me than being all by myself. I can't wait to seat with him at church with our baby by our side :).

January 10th, 2012!

On Tuesday, January 10th, my husband celebrated his 33rd birthday, and we also celebrated the birth of our beautiful son. It was a special day for both of us, and also for our immediate family. We have waited for that day for years, so you can only imagine the way we felt when we left that morning to go to the hospital. We knew that in a matter of a couple of hours, we would get to meet our miracle baby. I was really excited yet a little bit nervous too about the c-section.

We left the house at 6am. Once there, I got monitors on me before they pushed me down to the delivery room. At exactly 8am, I was in the delivery room. The nurses prepared me for the surgery. I think the preparation time took longer than the surgery itself. By the time they brought Marc to the room, the doctors had already made the incision, and a couple minutes later, baby was out. Marc saw when Dr Naude pulled baby out of my tummy, I honestly wished I've seen it too. All I felt is the doctors pushing, and doing things with my tummy. Once baby was out, our family doctor examined him then handed baby to Marc. I've never seen such a big, and beautiful smile on my husband's face before. Of course, I cried. I got to see him for a couple minutes before they (Marc and Dr Gerber) went upstairs to the nursery in the maternity ward. To be honest, I was really sad that I couldn't hold him right away. While Marc was upstairs with our son, I had to wait in the recovery room for one hour. It seemed like it was the longest hour ever. All I thought about was my husband and son.

9:30am, the nurse took me back upstairs. My heart was beating so strongly. I could not wait to see my son again, and to finally hold him, and give him kisses. It was a great moment for me. I have never seen such a beautiful baby in my whole life (I am biased, I know, lol!) My heart just melted once I had him in my arms. He was here at last. Marc and I couldn't keep smiling all day. We were/are so happy to have him in our lives, and feel so blessed to be his parents. Grandma and grandpa B came to visit that day along with a couple friends. They brought presents for baby and for daddy. What a GREAT day it was!!!
