January 10th, 2012!

On Tuesday, January 10th, my husband celebrated his 33rd birthday, and we also celebrated the birth of our beautiful son. It was a special day for both of us, and also for our immediate family. We have waited for that day for years, so you can only imagine the way we felt when we left that morning to go to the hospital. We knew that in a matter of a couple of hours, we would get to meet our miracle baby. I was really excited yet a little bit nervous too about the c-section.

We left the house at 6am. Once there, I got monitors on me before they pushed me down to the delivery room. At exactly 8am, I was in the delivery room. The nurses prepared me for the surgery. I think the preparation time took longer than the surgery itself. By the time they brought Marc to the room, the doctors had already made the incision, and a couple minutes later, baby was out. Marc saw when Dr Naude pulled baby out of my tummy, I honestly wished I've seen it too. All I felt is the doctors pushing, and doing things with my tummy. Once baby was out, our family doctor examined him then handed baby to Marc. I've never seen such a big, and beautiful smile on my husband's face before. Of course, I cried. I got to see him for a couple minutes before they (Marc and Dr Gerber) went upstairs to the nursery in the maternity ward. To be honest, I was really sad that I couldn't hold him right away. While Marc was upstairs with our son, I had to wait in the recovery room for one hour. It seemed like it was the longest hour ever. All I thought about was my husband and son.

9:30am, the nurse took me back upstairs. My heart was beating so strongly. I could not wait to see my son again, and to finally hold him, and give him kisses. It was a great moment for me. I have never seen such a beautiful baby in my whole life (I am biased, I know, lol!) My heart just melted once I had him in my arms. He was here at last. Marc and I couldn't keep smiling all day. We were/are so happy to have him in our lives, and feel so blessed to be his parents. Grandma and grandpa B came to visit that day along with a couple friends. They brought presents for baby and for daddy. What a GREAT day it was!!!
