The year for us always begins with excitement about the three birthdays we get to celebrate the first couple months of the year. Posts for these events have been written already, so let's go to the rest of the year.
March, April, and May have been spent mostly in parks, especially the MD of Taber's Provincial Park, and occasionally, the Henderson Park in Lethbridge. The weather was decent enough that we were able to go on walks, and small little outings. Nothing too big and extraordinary. And I also broke my ankle in May! No big deal though.

June, was definitely a busier month. We went to the beach, Wally's beach, with friends, and also went for day trips to Waterton. We had an encounter with a mama bear on one of our hikes in Waterton. I had my air cast on. Fun times!
The best part of June was our mountain biking trip to the Pass. Since we moved to Taber, Marc had started riding bikes again with the guys from Taber. They mostly rode on the local trails, and the trails in Lethbridge.
But with his friend Kyle who happens to also be a coworker, they started hitting the trails around the Pass, and Fernie. We pitched our tent next to Kyle's trailer in Chinook Lake, and had a fantastic time enjoying Crowsnest Pass and the many things it had to offer. Even though Marc was a bit sick, he still went and had a good time.
Of course, the boys and I had adventures of our own awaiting us. So after breakfast, we left camp and went exploring. I took my air cast off during the day, and put it back at night. It was my first time in the Pass, so I was eager to visit Frank slide. The boys and I read about the event that has taken place in the town of Frank before hand, so once on site, we just admire the scenery wondering about how the people back then must have felt after the tragedy hit. The site is quite amazing! A tad bit mysterious. Just looking at it, you could sense that something bad has happened there. The heavy rocks truly reveal a past not forgotten yet hides things that were once owned. It's amazing how you can find peace in such a place. Peace among destruction.
After our visit to the Frank slide center, the boys and I went to Blairmore, and did some shopping, and went out for lunch. We then went "home", and enjoyed exploring our campsite. Once Marc got home, we had supper and visited with Kyle. We continued exploring the camp area, and went for short walks to admire the beautiful view. Hours later, we went to bed feeling happy to have had quite a fun time together with our new friend. Since then, Kyle has become a really good friend, and has taken us a few places.
Towards the end of the month, we went to the Birds of Prey. It has become a yearly trip! We like to watch the eagles show, and see the baby owls.

We've owned this tent for over a decade and it still looks great.
We fill it with mattresses, pillows, sleeping bags and comforters.
Keeps us all warm! We love it! |
