Books!

Today, grandma brought a couple of children's French books for baby. I was really happy about it. I've been struggling a lot to find books in French here for Yann. Not long after grandma gave them to me, my friend Lucy called, and asked if I wanted some children's French books. Of course, I was really excited about it. Her daughters don't need them any more. I have tutored Lucy's daughter a couple years ago. Lucy came and brought a box filled with books, most of them in French and a couple in English.

I love reading books. I enjoyed reading to my son every day. I am happy to have gotten all the 'new'books for my baby, and cannot wait to read them to him. There's a children's bible (in French) in the box that Lucy brought which made me even happier. Every day, I read the 'Children's Picture Bible'to baby (in English), and had hoped to find one in French. Now, I have one :). I asked my sister to get me the Book of Mormon reader for baby (in French) and send it with my brother.

I got the English one at work :).

It's important to me that baby learns French at home, so that he can communicate with his family in Tahiti. We mostly speak French to him. Of course, we can't avoid English (and we don't want too). He is used to hear both languages daily, and from time to time, I speak to him in Tahitian. Sometimes, I forget that I (myself) was born in a bilingual culture speaking both Tahitian and French at home.

Need to get him a new bookshelf :).
